There are moments in our lives that we feel that we have defeated the ego/shadow and are on the road to a complete recovery. But as we look around we suddenly find ourselves being faced with drama from others and we quickly want to heal them, and stop healing ourselves.
One of the biggest shadow games is trying to defeat fear. Of course we are all learning about fear, but when we are doing something and fear is gripping us it is within that moment that we can find the blessing of what we are running from, towards, or hiding. If we are driving around and getting lost and are fearful while seeing a friend that is suppose to be in secret we can find ourselves gripped with so much fear that we go numb. Having an affair and experiencing the adrenaline rush from secrecy is not overcoming the shadow, but rather hiding deeper within the illusion.
Whenever when we fall out of integrity we can fee this through our body. There is a big difference between peace and confusion.
It has become easier for me to do this process that it was even two years ago. Much of this is due to my dedication to the process, my willingness to let things go (even when others want me to hang on) and my ability to witness myself.
The easiest way for me to process myself now is if I hear the words, "You know you should...." or "You know you are creating this". It's in that very moment that I stop and realize that I'm speaking to myself and discover where my light is being hidden within the witnessing of this world.
Ego/shadow is so prideful. It wants us to feel that "WE" are doing something all the time, that it's all our ability to know. We don't know crap, if we did we'd all be living in a world of total peace, joy and love. But the reality of it is there is still struggles in our world. When you through yourself in a job that is constantly about judging, disagreements, and arguing then you are doing all of these things to and with yourself.
A person that is constantly at battle with city hall because the government appears to be taking money from the people needs to look at what they are fighting against in order to better understand their own shadow. If a person takes money from a company or government body usually feels they deserve more than what they are currently getting. What kind of person or what would have had to happen to an individual to make them think they are more deserving than their share?
All we have to do is look at the people in government we DON'T like and there we are. All we have to do is look at our current friends to see what we hate or dislike about them and there we are. All we have to do is look at what we don't like about religion or organized religion and there we are. You see....it's so easy for spiritual people to say there is no one else out there as long as they aren't letting themselves in on that secret.
The shadow is a must, we can't throw it away for it is a part of us that helps us to find and continue to seek the light within us. It is what allows us to see this light for without it we are not seeing the contrast, the game in which we have chosen to play.
The shadow hides our golden nuggets deep within the rivers of our souls. It is up to us to go panning for gold or just be upset because everyone else has what we don't or can't seem to find. We can all find it!!!
We went crystal hunting one weekend and my girl friend found her a spot. She knew there was something in that hill she was digging in. The other friend told her she was wasting her time as he continued to just look down on the ground to pick okay crystals up. Suddenly you can hear her screaming and she came over to me with this huge, perfectly shaped crystal. It surely was a find. I told her in that very moment that life was going to getting really good for her. She asked me why did I say that and I replied, "Because you were willing to stay on that hill knowing that there was a treasure to find even when everyone else thought you were silly." Well, it wasn't long after that she found the man of her dreams and is so blessed in so many ways. Not just because of the crystal but because of her willingness to dig.
You see, we all must be willing to dig. Some of us look on the surface and judge what is good and not, throwing stuff away. Then there are those like me that save every nugget I and cherished it as if it were gold. I had a bunch of crystals but to one friend they weren't worth saving. Hum! Interesting when I write it like that, huh?
The point here is sometimes we have to go beyond what we see and dig into what we feel. If we are unable to feel then all we will be doing is discarding treasures that are laying on the surface.
Hopefully you will find that the shadow is not something to just throw away but love and cherish as your greatest gift. Not to become the shadow or hidden by it, but rather becoming free and seeing the light in which it brings forth upon welcoming its message.
