What is it Going to Take?

It's hard to talk about politics and not divide ourselves, but what is it going to take to unite? So I will be gentle with this point to bring some form of awareness that I think many of us could agree on. As we watch millions of dollars being spent on campaign ads for a proposal where is all this money coming from?

Where is this money coming from that both sides use in order to make their voices, ideas, or proposals known to the public? And then do all the people get to hear it? If we are able to spend $400,000 on a campaign ad for Medicare reform then why are we not able to give back to the system that would allow it to flourish?

Did you know there used to be a time when the folks that served us did so for free? Did you know that it used to be the true vote of the people that would make the changes in our country real? Did you know that it was through our voice that made the biggest difference?

What happens when we don't pay our taxes? Well they come knocking at your door they seize your accounts and they will levy whatever they can levy, and this is for state, city and country. And if that wasn't bad enough now the fees tacked on to the original bill are almost impossible to pay. Why do you think we see so many commercials about this very thing? Because it's a very real problem.

Now I've never been on that end of the stick but I have been on the other end where the government owed me money. Let me just say that their penalties for making mistakes isn't as great as ours. It is not balanced. If someone should pay 17% interest on taxes they owe, then the government should be required to do the same. (I don't know what the % is, this is just an example, but I do know it's high and I know the percentage they paid me for the money they owed me was only 2%.)

While the government is giving themselves pay raises, jets trips, traveling expenses and much, much more we as citizens are having to come up with our own ways and means to help the homeless. We are called on our own to do what we can.

As I watched how strong the human spirit is while watching Joplin and how they are handling their disaster I realized that when humans hit hard times they do what they can to survive and to lift each other up. It is within us to take care of each other. But are we not able to do what we really could because our hands are being held? What would you want to do to help another?

So on the news we hear of money being used to cover up abuse and lies, we hear about the campaign money being used on ads to promote their ideas and we hear of money being thrown away on things that mean nothing. How many more decorative things do we need in the senate house?

Why are we allowing our money to be spent this way? Well it's simple, we fell asleep. They know we fell asleep and they like it. It's going to take a big hit for us to wake up and change the laws that have allowed one group of people so much power that we are no longer the voice, we are just the people that need to keep giving them money.

But as their greed grows it's spreading and having repercussions. On the city and state levels they are having a hard time making their budgets because businesses have closed, homes have foreclosed, and people have moved away. You see, they thought they could do it without us. But as the debt grows for unemployment and now more people on medicaid or medicare the systems weaknesses are being exposed.

Can we grow into a strong people again? Absolutely, but it's going to take real change. This change is going to take action, it always does!!!

Many are unemployed right now and without their knowledge as they apply for new jobs that many employers write in the fine print that if you are currently unemployed that you are unemployable. Huh, so that means that if you currently do not hold a job you're not going to get this one. It used to be the other way around, that if you had a job they wouldn't give you one, now it's if you don't have one we're not going to give you one. Now not all companies have this rule but many of them do.

Here is something else to think about, all employers do a credit check. Now anyone that has been employed knows how difficult paying the bills can be, but if you are trying to apply for a job and have gotten behind on your bills then you stand a chance again not to be employed.

It's like we keep hitting the people that are down in order to keep them down. So how are we going to help each other out of this? For each person their experience will bring them to a different awareness and a different action. Each experience allows us to see how we are doing this to ourselves or our self. But there is always a way, there is always the creative powers within us that allow us to raise our wings. We can all take a moment and look at the symbolism in what is happening within our world, country or state, and even within your own city.

There is nothing more to say, it's all about responsibility and not giving others our power. If we keep allowing someone else to be responsible or take our power then we are subject to the aftermath.
