In the movie, "Without a Paddle" one of the guys goes on and on about being a river guide. The Native American tells him, "Lie to me, I don't care". He knows that the only persons life at risk is the person doing the lying.
Now that's profound! Isn't it so true even on a spiritual level that when we lie to others or to ourselves that there is a piece of us that dies with that lie. Whether it's about who we are, what we've done, or what we are thinking when we lie to another we are lying to ourselves.
The Native American is asking questions to ensure they are prepared and ready for the rough waters ahead. When we take a moment and welcome information, rather than acting like we know it all then we welcome the divine guidance of spirit to assist in us in the rough waters, thus making our job, travel and understanding easier.
But why would a person lie to you about something that they've done rather than coming out and telling the truth? Again, this is death, but this time this death is being projected in whatever it is they have lied about. And you will find that whatever they have just lied about is something deep within them they are resisting. They may not even know they are resisting it, but they have failed to learn a lesson and are now wanting to cover it up. This is normal protection behavior of the ego.
The more the person is able to get by with the lies the more the ego will grow in size and will continue to validate that the lie was necessary in order to protect someone or something. This is never true, for the only thing that is being protected is the liars ego.
So lie to me, I don't care. It is not up to me whether you are telling the truth or not. And it's so funny too, because the liar that knows about projections will take the eye off of them and put it back on you by saying, "So what meaning is that for you?"
Well honey, a part of being aware is being able to see things as they are without getting caught up in someone else drama. Just like the Native American knew. To argue with the liar only brings you into their reality and once they have you hooked by trying to convince them that they are wrong, then you have fallen. It's true for all of us. What is true is true for them, let them live it, let them experience it.
We've all known when someone has lied to us but they need that lie in order to fill a void within them, just like the "Without a Paddle" dude. Watch the movie when you get a chance because it's loaded with profound and deep messages.
Hope you are enjoying this beautiful Labor Day and are being honest with yourself and those around you. For it is in those moments of truth that the divine creative being comes alive.
