My daughter sent me a picture the other day of my eldest granddaughter at an auction house. She just didn't look like herself so I text my daughter back stating that Cadence just didn't look like herself. Chas explained to me that Cadence was not happy about being at the auction house for a couple of reasons. One, it was way too hot to be in this place with no wind, or air. Two, she found a doll that she liked and she wanted to buy it, however, the doll was there to be sold at auction. This upset Cadence and this is what she said, "I should be able to buy what I want and get it without having to fight for it." Cadence continued to tell her mother that we shouldn't have to fight for anything or over anything.
How many times do we have to get this sign? She is absolutely right and competition is nothing more than an ego game.
Competition can be so subtle that you don't even know that it's happening, unless you are aware. Remember the story of Jesus on the mountain when Satan temps him? Well I think this is a beautiful story of how the lower mind uses competition to bring us down to a lower level. Ego wanted Jesus to prove how Godly he was, but Jesus knew there was no need to ever prove this and to do so would have taken him into suffering and the lower mind.
There have been times I've witnessed people trying to pull me away from my focus and attention by being competitive even within my own home. That's when you know someone knows just how powerful you are and is trying to take what doesn't belong to them. An example of this is I have two cats. Now these cats I have raised since birth basically, so there is a different kind of bond between them and me than there would be if I just bought them at a shelter. However, I believe and know people can develop those bonds under such as well. Even as I'm typing this my eldest "Fluff" is meowing at the door to get in. Fluff loves to lay in my arms as I'm typing on the computer and Midnight is always at my legs rubbing against them. But what about the person that comes over that tries to establish the same kind of relationship with the cats as you do? What is this person really saying about themselves and what is happening to the ego?
When an individual is trying to prove or force the same kind of relationship, whether it be with animal or people, the person is letting you know they are in ego and are trying to get either "A" to prove to you that you are not as connected to the cats as you thought and build jealousy, or "B" to prove to you that they are just as important as you are. Either one of these are coming from the lower mind and the person is exhibiting the story of Satan on the mountain with Jesus. Jesus knew not to compete with Satan, there is never any reason to compete with ego. It only becomes alive and strong when you buy into its illusion that there is something out there to fight for.
One day Dwayne and I were out at the horse stalls and Angelo had hurt his hoof really bad. He came right up and got into the pen but then I closed him in because I needed to see what was going on. He stood in his little corner as he usually does and I started calling him. He turned around to face me, he dropped his head and he wanted to come to me so badly. He started taking his little steps and I could feel his pain. All of a sudden Dwayne comes up and with a commanding voice and bellows, "Angelo, here!". Angelo with head still dropped comes up to the fence, which he was already walking up to anyway. I could see the gleam in Dwayne's eyes and I knew right then and there he wasn't home, he had checked out and had allowed ego to come in. I just quietly walked away smiling as he stood there at the cattle panel.
I walked into the house and prepared for my nightly routine. Dwayne walked in and he said, "I could feel what I did and I don't know why I did it." I wanted to be sure he was talking about what I had just witnessed outside and asked him could he be more specific. He continued to tell me that he knew that I was doing fine with Angelo and that there was a feeling that came over him that had to prove that he could get Angelo up before me. He said when he felt himself checking out there was nothing he could do about it, but that after the event was all over he felt bad and ashamed for what he had done.
I explained to Dwayne that he just had a lower mind event occur, that he was able to witness and be aware of and this was a very good lesson. The lesson allowed Dwayne to realize what it felt to be so competitive that you are willing to rob another of their experience rather than just allowing them to have that moment of connecting with the divine. You see his ego wanted to prove that it could connect with the horse as I was doing through the heart. Just because you are able to get a horse to come up when it's already coming up doesn't mean that you are the one connecting with it.
This situation is true for any event and all events that you feel you need to be competitive in order to get your way or get what you want. Cadence is right, all you have to do is know what you want and go for that without fighting over it.
Children are already taught so much about greed from the moment they start school, making it stronger with Bingo, Auctions, and betting circles can have long lasting heart felt issues.
But what about the person that is so competitive that they don't even realize how often they play that game with friends, family and co-workers? Well, let them be. They need to have that experience of taking from themselves just like Dwayne did. Just walk away! If someone comes into my house and is trying to chase down my cats because they think they have a special relationship with them or can make one with them then so be it. I'm happy for them. Only they know the manipulation and the hidden agenda that makes them act like that.
As I witnessed a friend trying to force himself on my cats and realized they didn't want to have anything to do with him he said, "You have imprinted them, they know you, but they remember me." At that moment you could feel the ego come up, I witnessed it in his eyes. It was then that I realized that he was right, God is imprinted within all of us but it is the ego that tries to get everyone to remember something that was never real. You see this person had very little contact with these cats, but the ego wants to be "remembered". It knows that its going to fade away. It knows that its life is over once you "forget".
God knows we know and trust and knows that we will know! It is then that we truly re-member.
Have a good day!
