As I was preparing for an interview today a thought came to me about how massage therapy used to be a service that was hard to find. The students within my class where becoming massage therapist because it was something they "believed" in. They wanted to assist others in feeling good and bring stress relief to folks. I knew immediately during open house this was what I was waiting for and would bring stress relief to me. I didn't even think about how this was going to be for the client.
But then something happened. Within a few short years everyone was becoming a massage therapist, everyone wanted a piece of the pie. Their thoughts, when asked were, well I can do one or two massages and not have to work the rest of the week. Hum! Really? Why? Well for many of them they were used to only making less than $200/week as it was and working everyday of the week.
Then another baby was born, the doctors that used to hate massage therapy and didn't want it in their practice because they saw it as competition and insurance companies wouldn't pay; now were hiring therapist to work while billing for insurance and paying the therapist pennies on the dollar. It was the work of the massage therapist that got insurance companies to pay for their work, now the doctors see it as a way to make quick easy money. Not all doctors believe or do this by the way.
So as I'm driving I thought about how many folks are into the spiritual movement right now, how many self help workshops there are. And so many of the folks are saying the same thing, people just aren't showing up. We can't assume we know or understand why people aren't showing up, but what I have heard people say is, "Oh, it's just another one of those workshops that claim to make you rich and leave you poor. The only person getting rich is the person doing the class." Well it's obvious there is a difference in what is wealth and true wealth for people. Tell people they can become a millionair over night and they are all over you, but tell them they will become rich with inner wisdom and they say no way leave me alone. But even when you tell someone they can become rich in the outer world they even shy away from that, thanks to "The Secret". Well guess what, it's still a secret.
There are processes out there that make claims that all they have to do is say a statement and make sure it's strong in your body and you're done. You leave there still fat, still depressed and still feeling like what next. Trust me, I've done many a process. Everyone wanted me to go back to a time before I was born, but how the heck was I going to know what I did before I was born? Let's take care of the identity we see right now, what's real for me right now. That's what I wanted. That's what I wanted to understand.
What I have come to understand is this, people are more than willing to pay me for what I do when I understand that it is God that is coming through my doors. All I said to God was, "I am ready to meet more people" and he provided that for me. Not by the means of working for someone else, that would have been someone elses goal for me, but rather for myself. God is just asking me am I ready and is now telling me to hold on to my pants.
You see when we believe in competition within our mind then you are only competiting with yourself and creating a wonderful story of how hard you have to work just to keep up with your bills. You'll have to continue to believe that story until you have enough of your mind cleared to see reality for what it really is.
I love the business that I am in because it's my business. Meaning that it's me working with God each and every time. How can we teach people that it's God's will but then blame them for what is going wrong in their lives? How loving is that? It's confusing for people when spiritual coaches and workers blame the client for what they just created when we tell them that it's God's will.
So how do we look at it! We begin to see what God has placed in our lives that we are willing to investigate. If you are uncomfortable, just as we say in Higher Mind, Lower Mind, then it's time to get real. It's all God anyway! To say that a client is lazy and should be calling clients, or doing this or doing that, if the client is okay with not calling clients then so be it. If they fail who's will is it? You can't tell a client it is God's will if He succeeds and the clients will if he fails, because there is only one Will.
We limit our thinking when we believe there is anyone else out there but ourselves. Of course there is a major shift that is occuring within us and work is something that we will all be passionate about or it won't exist. If you are building a business for any thing other than your passion you might as well close your doors today.
There have been many times God as asked me am I serious about what I do and am I humbled by it. When I took a second job several years ago because I didn't think I was making enough money I quickly learned just how much money I was really making. Talk about reality check.
Remember that when you are helping others with their money issues you are helping yourself with your own. If you continue to ask your clients how their money is doing you are asking yourself how your money is doing.
I know this without a doubt because when clients come to see me it's usually about their relationships with people. That is one area that I am still working on in my life. I am working on my own relationship with myself.
I had a thought the other day that I should be paying my clients for allowing me to work on myself. What a great concept right? Well, of course the should let me know that I just projected myself and knocked myself out of present time. LOL. But I regained and my client was appreciative.
This morning as I was checking my facebook I noticed a book titled, "Be the Love". It was just a few days prior that a group of us were talking about how so many spiritual practices are out there now using the slang language but that how we are love and boom, it's created. One must really stop and ask themselves, Wow, is anything original? And the answer to that is a big fat NO. We are all caught within this illusion of specialness rather than trusting God that He provides completely 100%. So if you think you have something special to offer the world you better think again because God is there to prove to all of us that we are not divided. We are all ONE, we are all special, and we are all deserving and pure LOVE.
With all this said, how do we make money? We don't! Because as soon as we have that thought, money makes us!
