Getting rid of the old!

There comes a time in every persons life that requires the direct attention of getting rid of things that they are holding on to just for the sake of having it. I've tried getting rid of stuff on a number of occasions but Dwayne always said, "I might need that later," or that it belonged to so an so. Well so and so is dead and they're not using it any more than you are. :)

So Thursday I took a day off from work and started the process, Friday I continued the process with very little effort on my part, I just started packing stuff up. So I told Dwayne that we were going to finish this first thing in the morning and that's exactly what we did. We got up early Saturday, this morning, took his truck in to be serviced, went grocery shopping and then came straight back to the house to start.

When Dwayne asked what room we were going to start in first I took him to our little meditation room. He asked surprisingly, "I thought you did this room already?" Then he saw it, the bag from hell. The bag that continued to be shoved from one closet to another until it finally was in one that no one could see. Well, if you can't see it you're certainly not going to take care of it, now are we? LOL...So he said, "Oh okay....I guess it's time to finally go through this thing." And that he did. We had a whole tote, a whole one mind you full of electric cords, phones, plugs, baby monitors and more by the time he got through that freaken bag. But not only that, we now had a whole bed full of computer, tv, and phone cords that he wanted to keep. This gives you some idea of how big this bag actually was, and I'm being kind.

Starting with that bag was a blessing because it set the tone for the rest of the house. We were able to get through every single drawer, closet, and cabinet space that had been filled with years of hammers, screw drivers, nails, light bulbs, and more....I know everyone single one of you have one or two of these drawers yourself. I could open an office supply store with all the stuff we found. And....he went through his old clothes all on his own. I was amazed. He said, well now's a good a time as any. Absolutely.

So as we took the stuff to My Sister's Closet the lady asked us if we had a yard sale today. Her eyes got really big when she saw the carpet cleaner. I wished I had known she needed it, I would have given it to her. Anyway, I told her nope, we were just clearing out the clutter. By the third bag of towels she got this really confused look on her face. LOL....maybe I could open up my own little mini Wal Mart.

After doing clothes this evening I had two baskets full of towels! Gezzz....what happened? I thought I got rid of all of you guys. Not only that more dish towels, hand towels, and wash clothes appeared to. So I've come to the conclusion that things give birth here at my house. Start out with a pair and you're going to have a dozen in no time. I lost count of the number of curtains I had. And why? That's what I couldn't figure out. Where and how did they get into my house?

So the new rule is nothing comes in without something going out first. You should've heard Dwayne, that's where that is....Oh, I've been looking for that......how did that get there I know I put it here.....LOL.... for me I just kept my mouth shut and smiled.

Now you can walk through my house without bumping into furniture. All the closets aren't full of clothes that look like they are ready to attack. And the towel situation, well we still have plenty, don't know where they're all coming from, but at least I have the space to keep them now. Wonder where they lived before I had all this shelf space. And to think that I took several bags of towels to the donation center. HUM!!!!!

Tomorrow should be quiet and full of peace now that we are free of clutter. But think about what this does for the mind as well. Think about how much memory space those little things are taking up in your head and in your closets. I mean you do have to remember where they are. And think about how much money it takes when you can't find them and then how upset you are that you spent the money on buying the same thing that you just couldn't find earlier. We've all done it.

So clear your mind, clear the clutter and free yourself for true abundance of peace, joy, love and experience of freedom.

Belief Statement: All this junk was making me crazy and I felt confined. I can't even remember where it all came from. I gain frustration while losing peace.

Spirit Statement: All my thoughts are calm and free to remember Self while centered in peace.

And there we have it. All that clutter can keep us from see our true selves.
