Pulling Weeds

As I prepared myself for jury duty this morning I questioned whether this was the right thing to do for my soul. As I am dressing I realized that as a citizen I set an example by showing up and making sure that I stay aligned to my truth. So I cheerfully finished getting dressed and look forward to the messages I would receive.

Once in town I parked where my friends work and walked through their office to get to the court house. There I was greeted with myself saying, "You know look at the honor it is to be of service when so many folks don't get that privelige." She was speaking about the other countries that kill their citizens rather than allowing them to speak out.

Then once we are called into the court room the judge begins how important of a job this is and how much he appreciated all of us for showing up. That men and women everyday sacrifice their lives in order for us to enjoy our freedoms. And then it gets better, as we are dismissed (Which I have to go back next week as well) I walk back across the street and my friend hands me the lyrics to a song by Bob Marley, "Right to Stand Up". It was beautiful and a validation that yes God was working with me today. I realized at that moment that lives had been sacrificed in order for me to have the right to be the god that I am. I have the light within me and that when I deny my light I deny life. So I proudly look forward to returning to court Monday morning and being a part of myself as a whole society and not just hide from it.

With such a revelation I thought it would be a great time to go outside and pull weeds. As I'm pulling the weeds I notice that if I pull the little, easy ones first that the bigger ones just pull right out. However, if I tried to get rid of the big one first it was harder to pull out. I thought about this for a moment and how it was going along with the theme in my life today. It was then that I realized that when we handle the little things in our lives that the big things aren't so big any more.

You see when we take care of the little weeds we are better able to get to the bigger weeds that have grown over time and have made a beautiful root system within our minds and hearts. It's by taking care of the little processes in life that allow us to see the bigger process and to move through it with ease.

So take care of your garden today and stay aware of the little things in life. They matter just as much if not more than the big things. Now go out and enjoy this beautiful sunshine today.
